The cycle route Brno – Vienne, 170 km long, connects two Central European metropolises. It passes through the territory of South Moravia and the Lower Austrian region of Weinviertel. Both neighboring regions are famous for their flat landscape. It ´s ideal for easy undemanding cyclists and families with children because of the easy and comfortable terrain on mainly asphalt surface with minimal motor traffic and informative signposts along the route. There are many interesting natural and historical places on the route of the cycle path – the castle gardens in Židlochovice, the reservoirs Nové Mlýny near Pasohlávky or the Museum of Czechoslovak fortifications in Novosedly.
In Brno, the route passes through the town from the dam and at the Rondo hall it leads along a separate path along the banks of the river Svratka past the Olympia shopping centre through Hevlín. In the South Moravian Region, the Brno – Vienna cycle route is mainly part of long – distance cycling route No. 4. In Austria, from Laa a/T it follows the international long- distance route Eurovelo 5 to Mistelbach, where it connects to Eurovelo 9 and finally leads to Vienna with the connection to Danube trail.
The South–Moravian section of the cycle path runs mainly along a straight line with a minimum elevation difference and is intended exclusively for cyclists. For a smaller part it is marked on less frequented service roads or lower-class roads. The whole route is interspersed with many rest areas and information boards, surrounded by ponds, fields, and vineyards. In the vicinity of the bike path it´s possible to take advantage of additional tourism services certified „Cyclists welcome“.
